Trainee Maintainer Operators

To safely and efficiently support the unique installation, maintenance and operational requirements of the UK rail industry, VolkerRail Plant provides and operates a broad spectrum of leading edge, modern specialist plant and services.   From rail mounted Kirow cranes to hand-held equipment, the range of services and equipment is extensive and backed up by in-house training, planning and professional engineering teams.

VolkerRail Plant is looking to recruit 3 Trainee Maintainer Operators for the OTM Tamping Contract.  2 positions will cover the London North Eastern (LNE) area and the other will cover the Midlands area.

You will follow an extensive training programme to order to become a fully qualified Maintainer Operator.  Your role will take you too many varied locations across the UK, working as part of a close team.

To be eligible to apply you must;

• Be either a trained apprentice in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or possess an NVQ level 3 (mechanical or electrical) or equivalent.
• Be flexible in your approach and willing to work nights, weekends and lodge away from home.
• Possess excellent communication skills. 
• A responsible attitude and high level of safety awareness.
• Hold a valid driving licence.

Due to the ergonomics of driving cab design, height and weight restrictions may apply.

If you hold a valid train driving competency this would be a distinct advantage.
