Karen Watson

Karen Watson - Training and Competence Manager

Karen joined VolkerRail in January 2002 as an Administration Assisitant. Through training Karen progressed and in 2010 was appointed as Training and Competence Manager within the HSQE department. Karen is responsible for ensuring staff are trained and competent to carry out their role.

Chris Hamilton

Chris Hamilton - Lead Estimator

Chris joined VolkerRail in 2015 as lead estimator within the work winning department and works on a variety of submissions to Network Rail and other clients.

“Since joining VolkerRail I have been given the opportunity to work on a wide spectrum of submissions; it has been really easy to integrate into the business. The team I work with here are very knowledgeable, helpful and great to work with.”

Andy Fawkes - Installation Manager

Andrew joined VolkerRail in July 2010 as a signalling project engineer. Andrew is now the signalling installation manager and programme manager for the engineering apprentices, responsible for completion of signalling installation works safely, on time, and within budget.

VolkerRail have an exceptionally committed workforce who will stop at nothing to ensure the safe, on-time delivery of any scheme they are involved in. I am proud to be part of this team. VolkerRail have personally given me the opportunity to complete a Bachelor’s Degree with their sponsorship, and continue to provide my with excellent development opportunities through educational study, and leadership development.

Hollie Woodard – Project Manager

Hollie joined the company in August 2008 as a quantity surveyor for our signalling division, Hollie then progressed into project management in 2012 and is responsible for the succesful and safe delivery of multi-disciplinary projects.

“Working for VolkerRail has provided me with an excellent platform to pursue my chosen career in some often challenging, but always fulfilling, roles. I have received very welcome support and encouragement from many of my colleagues including VolkerRail’s visible leadership team. VolkerRail, and even the wider team in VolkerWessels UK, have also actively supported my enjoyable campaigns to raise funds for The “Railway Children” charity and promotion of activities that increase gender diversity within the rail industry”.

Zoe Webster - Commercial Manager (plant and welding)

Zoe joined the company in July 2008 as a senior quantity surveyor for our Signalling division. Zoe progressed into a commercial management position, within our plant and welding department, in 2010 and is now responsible for the team who manage the commercial performance of the division.

VolkerRail offers both a challenging and enjoyable working environment.  I am part of brilliant team who are supportive, knowledgeable and hugely experienced.  I have benefitted greatly from the development opportunities that the company provides and believe that the confidence and skills I have gained as a result of them has enabled me to be much more effective in my role”.

Joanne Mason - Supplier Assurance Manager

Joanne joined VolkerRail in 1999 and has worked her way up through training to become our supplier assurance manager, where she is responsible for the on-going maintenance of our approved supplier database, monitoring supplier performance and developing new systems and performance indicators.

“Having worked for VolkerRail for over 15 years I have been in a privileged position to see the business grow into the successful modern company it is today. The management team encourage staff to show initiative and progression and invest in employees through training and promotions.”

Mark Jackson - Plant General Manager

Mark joined the company in November 2008 as general manager for our plant division. Mark is responsible for the safety staff, the efficient utilisation of over 1600 plant/equipment assets and the profit and loss of the business unit.
