The company has been raising money for Bluebell Wood since the launch of its hazard spotter scheme in July 2012. The scheme encourages staff to proactively report all hazards and close calls to help raise awareness about the importance of health and safety reporting. Since its launch, the scheme has raised over £8,000 for the hospice.

Although now part of the wider VolkerWessels UK hazard spotter scheme, which sees £1 donated to MENCAP for each reported hazard or close call, VolkerRail has continued with its original policy of donating each time a hazard is ‘closed’.

This most recent donation also includes a contribution from staff who were awarded a cash prize during a local fishing contest and decided to donate the money to show their support.
