Track maintenance

VolkerRail's detailed understanding of track techniques has derived from years of experience on high speed main lines, commuter routes, freight lines, depots, sidings and private industrial locations.

Our skills range covers every aspect of permanent way maintenance; from component exchange, to the highest technical levels of mechanised on-track machine activity and maintenance work including the design, planning, supply and installation of:

  • Plain line (all gauges and construct types)
  • Switches and crossings (all construction types)
  • Level crossing and Harmelen Level crossings (including associated repair works)

Our in-house specialist teams have successfully delivered projects for a vast range of clients, each with different site specific requirements, complexities, timescales and standards.

We also offer a fully comprehensive asset management service which provides infrastructure managers with an integrated maintenance solution. Services offered include:

  • Maintenance and refurbishment of plain line and S&C
  • Track life extension works
  • Permanent way condition surveys and reports
  • Routine inspection, fault finding and patrolling
  • Signalling maintenance
  • OHLE and power distribution maintenance

Our in-house capability also includes a fleet of access, renewal and maintenance machines, which have been tailored to the requirements of urban rail infrastructure.
