VolkerRail’s Metro and Rail Projects team have donated £1,000 to charity in celebration of their excellent safety record.
The team, based within British Steel’s Scunthorpe steelworks, has achieved over five years without a lost-time accident and has marked the event with a contribution to Lindsey Lodge Hospice.
Lindsey Lodge Hospice, in North Lincolnshire, provides palliative care to people living with life limiting illnesses and their families. Last year, the hospice worked with more than 5,000 people, either directly as patients or by supporting family members and carers.
John Pearson, general manager, said: “This is a massive achievement by the team, and it really does deserve to be acknowledged. It is extremely humbling that the team wishes to help others as part of the celebration and it was a great pleasure to make this donation to Lindsey Lodge, in recognition of the team’s outstanding performance.”
Rob Dannant, a fundraiser at the hospice, said: “We’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone at VolkerRail for choosing to support Lindsey Lodge Hospice in this way. Every penny they’ve donated will go towards ensuring our patients and families receive the best possible care and support when they need it most.”
VolkerRail will be the main sponsor for the Railway Children’s Sleepout 2020 event.
