Sam joined the company in January, taking over the role from John Pearson, who retired last week after 33 years with the business. John developed an industry wide reputation for this division, which has achieved technical and delivery excellence across the UK, specifically across the metro and light rail systems, train depots and private industrial railways sectors.

Sam joins VolkerRail from Trackwork, where he successfully led the operational delivery of numerous rail related projects, as well as growing and developing a multidisciplinary civils led capability to diversify the business.

Sam Allen, general manager – metro and rail projects, said: “I’m delighted to join VolkerRail, a company which has a strong reputation for standing out of the crowd, and in the growth and development of its employees, and I look forward to connecting with colleagues to build on John’s great work.”

Niall McCreanor, director of specialist businesses, said: “I’m delighted to welcome Sam to the team. His experience will be invaluable, and I am confident that he will help to build on the great foundations created by John and his team, to help further enhance the strength and our market position across our sectors.”
