The four awards split between Network Rail’s Signalling and Telecoms Framework and Minor Signalling Framework - estimated at up to £320m collectively - are part of a three-tier strategy enabling Network Rail and the signalling supply chain to be more innovative, collaborative and effective.

Signalling and Telecoms Framework

VolkerRail was awarded Lot one - London North West Signalling and Telecoms Framework in April. This £150m - £250m contract is one of six lots to be awarded and will see the team deliver targeted interventions, standalone level crossings and standalone major telecoms work (including associated E&P and civils works).

Minor Signalling Framework

Appointed within Anglia, London North Eastern & East Midlands and London North West (a combined value of up to £70m), VolkerRail is one of seven companies contracted to deliver these minor signalling and refurbishment works, split into 17 route-based lots, with two framework contractors for seven of the routes and three framework contractors for the Western route signalling and refurbishment works.

Both frameworks are some of the most substantial of Network Rail’s CP6 contracts to be let following the Office of Rail and Road’s final determination, which confirmed £35bn of funding for rail maintenance and renewals.
