Last Thursday (27 February) more than 500 guests from across the rail sector came together, at the annual event in London, to recognise excellence and celebrate the success of individuals and teams who make a difference.

VolkerRail was highly commended in the Sustainability & Environmental Excellence Award, which rewards companies who have introduced or developed the most successful environmental innovation within the UK rail industry.

Judges commended VolkerRail for demonstrating how the development of wide-ranging sustainability goals have already brought tangible benefits.

VolkerRail’s head of environment and sustainability, Katherine Haigh, said: “The way in which we work, and the impact we have, has to be considered in everything we do. VolkerRail has developed a dynamic sustainability strategy that focuses on translating our strategic goal into activities that embed sustainability skills and behaviours on projects. To be recognised for our efforts is a great achievement.”
