VolkerRail has been appoint to replace the existing signalling supply system, as part of Network Rail's London North West (LNW) signalling power supply renewals project.
The existing signalling supply system on the LNW route between Warrington and Carnforth has reached its life expectancy.
VolkerRail is carrying out the renewal of the LNW 650v Signalling Power Supply Distribution between these locations, as principle contractor for all associated Grip 6-8 works including civils, E&P & signalling works as outlined in the AFC designs.
To date the team have replaced four new feeders, de-energising the existing feeders and connecting the existing signalling equipment to the new infrastructure between Barton to Lancaster.
Work is expected to continue on site until June 2020
