As part of the extensive programme of enhancements and renewals work to the London North Western and East Midlands route, VolkerRail; over the course of three consecutive weekends, has delivered track work, for Network Rail, to facilitate the line speed improvement through the Bloxwich area.
The team laid over 4,200t of ballast and 2,000 sleepers throughout the 156 hours of possession time, as well as abolishing the existing level crossing.
Once all work is complete Network Rail will be able to increase line speed to 60mph from 45mph.
