VolkerRail celebrates success at UK Fleet Champions Awards
VolkerRail is celebrating after receiving multiple accolades at Brake’s UK Fleet Champions Awards 2026.
Brake’s UK Fleet Champions Awards recognise organisations and individuals working to prevent crashes involving work vehicles and improve road safety.
VolkerRail was awarded the Company Driver Safety Award - Large Fleet, and highly commended in the Dr Will Murray Award for Analysis and Action.
The recognition follows VolkerRail’s continued work to improve safety across its commercial fleet. With more than 500 vehicles operated by over 600 employees, travelling upwards of 500,000 miles each month, the business uses telematics linked to the Samsara system to analyse driving behaviours and support conversations with drivers about safety. VolkerRail’s Fleet Hero Awards also recognise drivers, divisions and projects taking active steps to improve driver safety.
VolkerRail’s fleet training coordinator, Vicki McCarthy, was also celebrated on the night, receiving the Kevin Storey Award for Outstanding Commitment to Road Safety.
Stuart Webster-Spriggs, HSQES Director, said: “Road risk is an important area of focus for VolkerRail. Our people travel significant distances as part of their work, so we have a responsibility to continually look at how we can make those journeys safer.
“These awards recognise the work taking place across VolkerRail to use data, technology, education and engagement to improve driving behaviours. Our Fleet Hero Awards have also helped us recognise and reinforce good practice across the business, keeping road safety visible and encouraging our teams to keep improving.
“I’m incredibly proud of everyone involved, and particularly Vicki, whose commitment to road safety has rightly received national recognition.”
VolkerHighways, sister company to VolkerRail also received recognition, having been awarded the Road Safety in the Community Award for its Kerby & Amber Road Safety Roadshow. The initiative, developed with local authority clients and their road safety teams, engages children aged four to 11 on key road safety messages.
The UK Fleet Champions Awards are organised by Brake, the road safety charity, and celebrate organisations and individuals working to prevent road deaths and injuries and reduce pollution caused by work vehicles.
