VolkerRail continues partnership with Doncaster Demons
VolkerRail is continuing its partnership with Doncaster’s women’s rugby team, Doncaster Demons, and is extending its official sponsorship of the team into the 2022/2023 season.
Based at Castle Park, Armthorpe, the Doncaster Demons has been a successful women’s rugby team since it was established in 2003, and competes in the Rugby Football Union’s Women’s league competitions.
VolkerRail has been the team’s main sponsor since 2019, and its continued sponsorship not only helps to promote women in rugby, but also strengthens the company’s commitment to support and give back to local communities. The sponsorship will also help the club raise the profile of women’s rugby, as Doncaster Demons play an active role in the local community to help support the sport in the area.
Stuart Webster-Spriggs, VolkerRail’s HSQES director, said: “Doncaster Demons are a well-respected club, and its team members are brilliant role models for young children – especially young girls – who wish to enter into the sport.
Our continued support is testament to the team’s achievements, as it continues to grow from strength to strength in cups and tournaments across the UK, with several team members also selected for County and North of England honours, as well as its commitment to supporting Doncaster.”
Gemma French, a representative from Doncaster Demons, said: “I am very pleased that VolkerRail and Doncaster Demons are continuing the partnership. Both our company values align well, and thanks to VolkerRail’s continued support, we have gone from strength to strength - including completing our previous season in fifth place, and recently achieving second place in a county tournament.
“We know that we will continue to improve and achieve these great results, including increasing the number of players we have, which has already jumped to 35 women, because of the support we receive from VolkerRail.
“Other successes which wouldn’t be possible without the support of VolkerRail include a dedicated coach, physio treatment and better, safer, safety equipment. Without support, it would be extremely difficult to have a safe and solid platform for the women in our team. Thank you, and here is to a great partnership and season.”
