VolkerRail shortlisted for STEM Awards 2025

The nomination was made by STEM Learning, the organisation behind the national STEM Ambassadors programme, to celebrate our ongoing commitment to inspiring the next generation through STEM engagement. 

Previously known as the North East STEM Awards, the STEM Awards is dedicated to recognising and celebrating the exceptional companies, educators, and individuals who are making a conscious effort to bring STEM opportunities to our region; those who are driving innovation and inspiring the next generation.

From local school visits and hosting placement students, to showcasing careers and sparking curiosity at events such as Get Up to Speed with STEM, and the North Star Science School, our team of school ambassadors has been actively involved in bringing science, technology, engineering, and maths to life for young people across the UK.

Commenting on the achievement, Caroline Lee, senior social value advisor shared: “It is an honour to see VolkerRail shortlisted for this award, which recognises the most inspirational engineering/manufacturing employers in the region. 

“The achievements made by VolkerRail are driven by a team of school ambassadors who work with me to encourage young people into a career in rail. I look forward to the awards night, and will be joined by one of our passionate education ambassadors, Aimee Carmody. The evening will be a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the impact of our outreach and connect with others driving STEM innovation.”

The awards ceremony will take place on 14 November.
